It was bound to happen, I suppose. There are two confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the island. They were self-isolating at home before they were confirmed and the health authorities are hopeful that they can contain it.
Obviously in this situation too many precautions are better than not quite enough. Schools, museums etc. have been closed. There are no visits to the observatory until further notice. Sporting events are cancelled or postponed. No visitors are allowed to hospitals, nursing homes or the prison. Buses are running but they’re being regularly disinfected.
From my inexpert point of view, they seem to be doing a pretty good job of threading the needle between too much and too little. All these cancellations will affect my income, but we’ll manage. I’ll get some extra writing time. It will be harder for others.
So now we wait and hold our breaths. I’ll let you know.
